Figel celebrates eTwinning success

Since its launch in January 2005, the proportion of European schools participating in the European Commission’s eTwinning programme more than doubled in 2006, from four percent to over eight percent according to commission reports last week.

Welcoming the growth and success, Jan Figel, Commissioner in charge of Education & Training, said in a statement: “the eTwinning scheme can bring all corners of Europe to our children’s classrooms. By participating in eTwinning, school children get to appreciate other cultures and other languages, while sharpening their computer skills. In this way, eTwinning not only brings Europeans from all over the continent closer, it helps develop the kinds of skills that our increasingly ICT-dominated economy needs.” (leer más…)

He estado leyendo hoy el blog de Harold Jarche con su post titulado «The future of learning is DIY»

If someone asks me what’s the best learning management system, my initial response is – Google. Donald Clark describes the top five global brands (Google, Apple, YouTube, Wikipedia, Starbucks) from the perspective of learning, with this comment:

Could it be that powerful, everyday ‘e-learning’ has crept up on the world, separate from all the academic and institutional noise, and in a consumerist fashion?

All of these brands enable informal learning, grassroots knowledge management or collaboration on a local or global scale.

Pronto is a free instant messaging and voice chat tool that allows students and instructors to spontaneously meet live online at any time to discuss their coursework. Pronto works with course management systems like Blackboard and WebCT to automatically populate students’ contact lists with their classmates’ names, thereby making it easy for students to spontaneously collaborate live online. After all, not all learning can be scheduled – it’s often informal and unplanned.

While Pronto offers many similar features as other instant messaging tools such as AIM and Yahoo Instant Messenger, Pronto is unique to education because it integrates with course management systems such as Blackboard and WebCT, thereby automatically populating each student’s contact list each semester with the names of every student in their classes and social organizations. With Pronto, students simply log on to their computers and instantly see who’s online from their classes, clubs, and study groups – without even logging in to their CMS. Each student can then spontaneously ask questions or make comments to classmates.

Military Intelligence Goes Web 2.0

February 26, 2007 (Computerworld) — The U.S. Department of Defense’s lead intelligence agency is using wikis, blogs, RSS feeds and enterprise “mashups” to help its analysts collaborate better when sifting through data used to support military operations.

The Defense Intelligence Agency is seeing “mushrooming” use of various Web 2.0 technologies, which are becoming increasingly critical to accomplishing missions that require analysts to share intelligence, said Lewis Shepherd, chief of the DIA’s requirements and research group at the Pentagon.

The tools are helping the DIA meet the directives from the 9-11 Commission and other entities for intelligence agencies to “improve and deepen our collaborative work processes,” he said.

The DIA launched its first wiki, dubbed Intellipedia, in 2004 on the Defense Department’s Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System, a top-secret network that links all of the government’s intelligence agencies.(leer más…)

Le département CRI du Greta du Velay vous invite à vous rencontrer le jeudi 1er mars 2007 pour la 3ème édition des Rencontres, sur le thème : e-learning & territoires ruraux. Elles posent la question de l’accès aux technologies sur les territoires ruraux. Comment les personnes isolées peuvent tirer bénéfice des technologies ? Comment développer les usages individuels et collectifs ? Quelles formations et quels accompagnements sont nécessaires pour favoriser l’émergence d’initiatives en milieu rural ?

Une conférence de Jean-Luc Mayaud, historien spécialiste des études rurales et rédacteur en chef de Ruralia, ouvrira le débat. Nous aurons également le plaisir d’accueillir Arnaud Klein de la Fing qui éclairera nos échanges de son expérience d’autres continents, ainsi que nos partenaires italiens pour une ouverture européenne.

La evolución del e-Learning llegó, y no podíamos dejar de brindar a los lectores de LEARNING REVIEW toda la información al respecto. De la mano de los expertos Stephen Downes y Fernando Santamaría González conoceremos todo lo que necesitamos saber sobre e-Learning 2.0.

En los últimos meses se ha hecho cada vez más popular el concepto de Web 2.0 -la evolución de la web 1.0 que todos conocemos-, y en conjunción con este «nuevo» concepto también se comenzó a hablar más asiduamente de e-Learning 2.0, hasta el punto que casi no hay congreso, seminario, encuentro de e-Learning donde no esté presente este tema. De hecho, tenemos que destacar también que ya hay quienes comentan acerca del e-Learning 3.0 (Ver reportaje especial a Jane Hart en páginas 10 a 12 de esta edición).

Muchos de ustedes seguramente hayan asistido a alguna charla, o bien hayan leído algún artículo respecto a Web 2.0 y e-Learning 2.0; o quizá recién estén empezando a descubrir que existe un e-Learning después del e-Learning «tradicional». A todos creemos que les será útil conocer un poco más sobre los avances de esta modalidad de aprendizaje-enseñanza, y también aclarar algunas cuestiones relacionadas que quizá hasta ahora le son todavía confusas. Mobile Learning: Profesores de bolsillo.España, pionera en la implatación en Europa

La formación a través del teléfono móvil gana adeptos cada día. Además de lecciones, también incluye podcasts, test y juegos didácticos.

Una de las principales ventajas del m-learning es su accesibilidad desde cualquier parte.

23/02/2007.- La formación on line, un negocio que mueve en España 855 millones de euros anuales, comienza a virar ahora hacia el Mobile Learning.

Y no sólo con lecciones y podcasts, sino también con test y, sobre todo, con juegos didácticos.

Según datos del Estudio General de Internet (EGI), la formación on line facturó el año pasado 855.745.000 euros, un 30% más que en 2005.

La principal barrera del e-learning para los usuarios, según reflejan distintos informes, como el último elaborado por Santillana Formación, continúa siendo, ni más ni menos, la falta de tiempo.
